18 June 2008 While we have only had a practice meet so far this year, we wanted to take a chance to recognize a swimmer for an outstanding swim to start the season. But because we had so many amazing swims on Saturday, I decided to recognize all our new swimmers who participated in Time Trials. I always love to see new swimmers come to a meet and have fun. This week's swim of the week goes to all the new Wahoos who participated in their first swim meet as a member of the Walden Glen Swim Team.
25 June 2008 There were a number of amazing swim from Saturdays thrilling first A meet, but the Swim of the Week goes to the Men's 200 Mixed Age Relay. With two events left in the meet and the Wahoos needing to win both relays to win the meet the Men's Mixed Age relay came through with an amazing come from behind victory to keep the Wahoos in the meet. The relay team of: Taylor Whitesel, Alexander Mendoza, Jacob Smith, and Austin Clark did a great job and earned this weeks SWIM OF THE WEEK.
2 July 2008 This week's swim of the week goes to a group of girls who have stepped up to help out their team any way they can. Due to our team not having a lot of 15-18 girls we've had to ask our deep 13-14 girls team to step up and swim with the big girls. This week's swim of the week goes to all the 13-14 girls who swam-up on Saturday: Maddie Wittich, Alexis McEntire, Cayla Chamberlin, and Claire Miron.
10 July 2007 This week's swim of the week goes to Caroline Wittich. At Saturday's swim meet she had to swim 25 backstroke and won the event. She doesn't like swimming backstroke, but stepped up to help the team out by winning the event. And she swam the second fastest time in the entire NVSL this summer! Not bad considering she doesn't like to swim backstroke at all.
16 July 2007 This week's swim of the week goes to Brendan May. Swimming in his first A meet of the summer Brendan had a fantastic swim in the 11-12 boys 50 Butterfly event. With five meters left to go Brendan put his head down and went as hard as he could to the finish and was able to out touch the other teams swimmer. He did exactly what all coaches preach to their swimmers, don't breath in the flags and finish hard. It was an outstanding effort that netted the team a first place.
23 July 2007 This week's swim of the week goes to Maddie Wittich. A recurring theme this year is swimming up, and Maddie was another one of those girls 13-14 girls who swam up this week. She swam up into 15-18 Breaststroke and after dropping over a second off her previous best time ended up getting second place. The nerves must have helped her swim a great race under some intimidating circumstances.
